Today, I met up with P.J again.
Going over what we did last time, we went over the food web again. It was about consumers and producers, carnivore and herbivore, and so on. It was a continuation of the previous classes. The reason why I spent three classes on this topic was due to his constant mistakes between the words and vocabulary especially with mammal, reptile, amphibian, carnivore, omnivore, and herbivore.
We did some fun activities to lower his filter and hopefully give him some more intrinsic motivation. The first game was to guess if the animal was a mammal, reptile, amphibian, insect, or a bird. After he finished the game, I gave each animal a description of what it ate. He then would tell me if the animal was a carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore.
After today's lesson, I saw that he understood the concepts well and learned the vocabulary. He got 90% of the answers right, and therefore I determined that he was fit to move on from this lesson!
