Erika TS #4 Adult

I met with In-Hwa again yesterday for a speaking lesson. I decided to explain to her what April Fool's day is and ask if there is anything similar in Sou Korea. To my surprise, they also celebrate April Fool's! I asked her if she had ever pranked anyone and she told me about how in high school, she turned all of the chairs in the classroom around to face the back of the classroom before class started on the election day of their class president. Here, she said "we bought de president" to which I was confused and asked her to clarify. She meant that they "voted for the president". I explained to her the big difference the 'V', the 'B' and the '-ed- make in those two words and we laughed about it. I also reminded her how important it is to pronounce the 'th' sound every time because I know that she knows how to do it.

We also talked about other pranks (after going over the definition of prank). After this, speaking exercise, we talked about her travels and it was very effective because she wanted to tell me about the amazing trips she has taken so she had intrinsic motivation to try her best to communicate effectively. I also corrected a couple of her short responses from class and went over grammar rules.
